Calories - Dancing can burn as many calories as walking, swimming or riding a bike. During a half-hour of dancing you can burn between 200 to 400 calories. In a single evening you could walk five miles.
Cardiovascular Conditioning – Regular exercise slows heart rate, lowers your blood pressure and improves your cholesterol profile. Experts typically recommend 30-40 minutes of continuous activity 3 or 4 times a week. Dancing may not provide all the conditioning you need, but it can help.
Strong Bones – The side to side movements of many dances strengthen your weight bearing bones and help prevent or slow the loss of bone masses (Osteoporosis).
